The Wood Memorial Lecture

The Wood Memorial Lecture is in memory of father and son, John F and Peter J Wood, who were, consecutively, lecturers in the Physics Department from 1924-88.

The series of lectures were instituted in 1994 after an endowment from Peter's wife Anne, as the most appropriate memorial to both men. The Wood Memorial Lecture is held every few years; the inaugural lecture was given by Professor Sir Michael Berry.
